The Instituto Ricardo Brennand is located at the city of Recife, Brazil. The institution is a cultural one. The whole place was created by Ricardo Brennand, an avid collector of wonderful things. The organization is composed of a sprawling park, immense library, pinacotec, and an extensive museum. Art of different forms can be found inside the massive castle structure. These objects have come from various locations and from different points in time, all collected by Brennand in one place. You will see their relics of middle age to 15th century Europe, items from Colonial Brazil, curiosities from Dutch Brazil, and other items dating from 17th century Brazil to 19th century Brazil.

You may have to take a taxi starting from San Antonio and it would cost you about $10. The Instituto Ricardo Brennand is an industrial estate. The whole set up is that of a castle and even has a functional drawbridge. What Ricardo Brennand has come up with is truly impressive. Brennand has two brothers and he inherited a factory for brickwork, ceramic, and tile. The area surrounding his estate has become so metropolitan, but his castle stands on the magnificent, still surviving part of the coastal forest Mata Atlantica. Surrounded by natural beauty, Brennand aimed to be an internationally acclaimed ceramic artist. He was already so rich by that time.
At the Instituto Ricardo Brennand, you will see his personal gallery containing enormous collections of drawings, paintings, decorated tiles and sculptures. The Castle Museum, a nearby structure houses the collection of arms held dear by Brazil along with incredibly beautiful stained glass windows, sculptures and tapestries.
You can also find at the Instituto Ricardo Brennand a library of massive collection of books, about 20,000 volumes regarding the Dutch period in Brazil’s history.
