Enjoy the Sun All Year Round! Reasons Why Recife Weather is the Best!

Due to the city’s proximity to the equator, Recife weather is generally warm to hot all year round with temperatures ranging between 28° and 34°C. Since this “Venice of Brazil” is in the southern hemisphere, winter in Recife is around June and July where the city experiences heavy rain with an average precipitation of 11.9 inches. Although rains occur all year round, the typically rainy Recife weather months are from March to July while the summer months are from middle of December to February during which many of the residents of Recife go on vacation.

Recife has a number of islands, rivers, waterways and bridges that crisscross the city. Recife is located amidst tropical forests which are distinguished by high rainfall levels resulting in poor soil quality as the rainfall washes away the nutrients. The absence of extreme temperatures and the cool breeze due to the trade winds from the Atlantic Ocean nevertheless continue to attract many visitors not only from many parts of the country but also from around the world especially from countries from the northern hemisphere which are in the dead of cold winter as the city braces to meet its December summertime Recife weather.

When visiting Recife, it is best to check out for detailed Recife weather reports and forecasts before planning to visit the city in order to dress up accordingly or prepare for occasional rain showers when touring around city attractions. Nevertheless, as the city usually enjoys an agreeable temperature all year round, visitors are recommended to wear light clothing and comfortable walking shoes when making trips to various city destinations.

The city of Recife was founded by the Dutch in 1673 after they destroyed the former capital of Olinda. Eventually, the port city which is noted for its sugar, cotton and coffee exports has now grown to become an important cosmopolitan center in northeastern Brazil. The city is named after the reefs that line up its beautiful beaches. But despite its steady economic growth and commercial development, the city has not lost its traditional and cultural touch and continues to be a curious and colorful mix of the new and old. Millions of visitors flock to this busy seaport and trading center to work and do business as well as to enjoy the interesting sights and sounds of its lively music, rich culture and vibrant entertainment.

Located along the coast facing the Atlantic Ocean of the northeastern province of Pernambuco, Recife enjoys a warm and rainy Atlantic tropical climate.
